Change in irrigation water delivery
status 6/15/20
We were
hoping this would not happen, however here we are.
Skaguay shut
their gate on Saturday, reducing the creek flow down to 6 c.f.s. No
notification was provided until this morning. Our diversion dropped within a
matter of a few hours, 3 feet. Connie raced around the park and unfortunately
interrupted current deliveries to even out the significant drop. After
adjusting the current deliveries, she made a call to order our 172 AF from
Skaguay. This will be delivered to us in increments of 8 c.f.s. for approximately
10 days in addition to the current creek flow. This water will not be
interrupted by CPW’s irrigations during this time. The water will be released
beginning tomorrow.
Immediately
once the water has arrived into our system, those shareholders that had their
deliveries interrupted will be started again. Every effort will be made to
irrigate those shareholders that have not received water this season yet.
Had we been
notified of the gate closure; we could have been better prepared to plan
current and future deliveries.
Currently
Brush Hollow reservoir is only at 71 ft. The lowest we can go is to 69 ft. as
we must maintain Penrose Water District’s storage, contracted water and fish
pool requirements.
As long as
the drought conditions remain, we understand the frustration of our
shareholders and share your frustrations not to be able to deliver water when
it is not available.
As always pray for rain!!!
