July Update
The month of July has been unbelievably hot. Many days of
upper 90’s and some days we suffered through triple digits. Penrose did not
receive much recordable moisture, a little more than .37 of an inch according
to the AG met sensor located in Penrose.
Working with the unforgiving heat factor, the Superintendent
and ditch riders have been working on line 6B which has not worked properly all
year. Buried lines with a mixture of cement, clay and plastic pipe have proven
to be a difficult task to work with. Not only did they work on this project;
they continued delivering water to shareholders on their designated areas. After
two weeks of trying to identify where the actual blockage was and digging up a
buried line through shale and around a tree, replacing the lines with plastic
pipe and testing the water delivery…FINALLY
success!!! A BIG thank you goes
out to the ditch riders and Superintendent that worked as a team to provide
water delivery on line 6B. Their team work and determination to complete the
project is greatly appreciated.
Connie was able to resume water deliveries on line 6B the morning of 7/23/16.
Thank you to all the shareholders on line 6B for their patience and
understanding.
Reminder to all shareholders with outstanding assessment
balances. – All assessments are due and payable 8/1/2016. Unpaid accounts will
not be eligible to receive irrigation water until account is in good standing.
Notices were sent out the beginning of July.
Delivery of second irrigations is coming to an end and
scheduling for third irrigations has begun in some areas. The creek flow has
diminished significantly during the month and Brush Hollow is dropping down,
currently today (7/26/16) is at 83 feet. Unless we receive a weather event that
provides us with some moisture, we may be limited to three irrigations this
year. However do keep in mind that two years in a row we received some significant
rain in August. Hopefully Mother Nature will grant us the favor this year.
