June Updates
June has been a very busy month with running irrigation
water and training two new ditch riders. Our upper canal has been running at 42
c.f.s. and more this month (more water than we have had in the upper canal for
quite some time) and the reservoir is at 88.3 feet. Mother Nature also provided
us with 1.88 inches of measureable moisture throughout the month and we expecting
more this week.
Due to the unique structure of our system the learning
curve does take some time to absorb. Not only are the new ditch riders learning
the system they have had to learn to juggle the water around due to hay down in
the fields surrounding the fields that are due to get water. It takes time to
drive around and access the adjacent fields to see if hay is cut or baled or
what the situation just might be. Please coordinate with the ditch riders and let
them know when your field has been cut and is drying ready for baling and when
it is available to receive water again. This will assist in the scheduling of
water. It is not just a matter of turning the water on and off. It takes
planning and coordinating with all the shareholders. Please be patient with
them; if you have any helpful advice or any form of encouragement would be
greatly appreciated.
This year has been remarkably one of the worse years for
trash in the canals. Beaver Parks Water’s canals run through many properties
and some are not shareholders, however as a reminder…..PLEASE DO NOT USE THE CANAL TO DISPOSE OF GRASS CLIPPINGS, HORSE
MANURE, WOOD AND ANY OTHER ITEMS. Any debris clogs up the screens and
causes flooding due to backups and slow running deliveries. If you should see
someone throwing garbage into the canals please tell them to stop or inform our
Superintendent and he will be happy to have a discussion with them. THE CANALS ARE A WATER DELIVERY SYSTEM NOT
A TRASH CAN! Thank you!
REMINDER – The
2nd half of assessments will be due by 8/1/16. If not paid, you will
not be eligible to receive irrigation water until assessments are paid in full.
The ditch riders will not contact you to remind you. Statements will be sent
out the beginning of July.
