The month wasn’t what we experienced last year in August for
rain; however it was nice to receive some relief from the dryness of July.
According the Penrose AG met sensor we received a total of 1.64 inches of
moisture and temperatures did recede somewhat, most days were in the high
eighties with overnight lows reaching the low fifties on several occasions.
For those of you that are monitoring the water levels at
Brush Hollow from the Water Resources Link; please be advised that due to a
satellite interruption from a California site our monitor hasn’t updated since
August 11th. After two weeks
of searching out the problem, it finally was discovered today. For those not
familiar with Satellites, many different monitoring sites use the same one and
each has a dedicated time factor associated with it. This case was difficult to
discover, a timing mechanism was changed in California therefore our
information could not be read. Once the California site has been corrected we
anticipate our information to process as normal. Hopefully this will occur
soon. The ACTUAL level at Brush Hollow at this time is 72.60 feet (8/25/16). The
Satellite communications are up and reporting actual live data as of 8/26/16.
Based upon all the above information, irrigations will
continue as long as possible until we reach 68 feet. Of course this is all
based on current information, if we should have a significant weather event
with an increase to our creek flow (currently we are at 9.82 c.f.s. at L St.
weir) this would provide us with the ability to continue irrigations for a
longer period of time. Based on the current status, water from Brush Hollow
will only last through the middle of September. At this time the ditch riders are
delivering 3rd irrigations and are more than half completed. Some
shareholders are waiting to cut fields and have been interrupted by the weather
that has provided us with some long awaited rain.
All assessments were due and payable by August 1, 2016. Those
shareholders not in good standing will not receive irrigation water and will
not be contacted by the ditch riders for payment. It is your responsibility to
make sure your accounts are paid. Those shareholders that have not paid
assessments for two years will receive letters requesting; payment in full,
payment contract arrangement or water shares will be auctioned at the Annual
Shareholders meeting in February. Those letters will be sent out in October of
2016. Please note, the Board of Directors does NOT wish for anyone to lose
their water shares and will make every effort to work with Shareholders on a
contract agreement in efforts to prevent this from happening. However, the
shareholder must take the initiative to make this happen. Any questions concerning
this situation, please contact the office.
