The month of September was definitely a mix of summer and
fall with highs in the 90’s and lows in the 40’s. Precipitation only provided
us with .22 of an-inch so far. Water in
the creek from the rain showers up north remained high throughout the month.
Ditch riders were able to provide irrigation water for the 3rd
irrigation and some lines on the west and middle provided 4th
irrigations. Irrigations should continue into November as long as we have water
to distribute.
We had unfortunate news with the passing of Board Member
Steve Smith who was elected at our last Annual Shareholders Meeting. This
leaves only four Board Members at this time. The Board will select a
replacement to complete the balance of the 3 -year term Steve was elected to. The
person chosen will need to run for the position at the next Annual shareholder
meeting for the balance of 2 years if they choose to.
In addition to our Board member passing away, we also lost a
previous ditch rider this month. Larry Degenhart who worked for Beaver Park
Water as a ditch rider on the west side for 10 years. He also worked part time
to train a new ditch rider for six weeks after he retired. He will be missed!
Reminder that Penrose Apple Day is next weekend – October 4th! Enjoy the kids parade with the floats they
made, followed by the main parade. This is all happening on Broadway, be aware
they block off the street including closing the street west to east from Hwy
115.
Forecast is showing that 10/19 it is possible we will get
snow, so…now along with a jacket and umbrella pack your snow boots, ice scraper
and a winter coat. Temperatures are forecasted to be in the 40’s for the high.
