April 2025 Updates

April has given us the best of both Seasons, Spring and Summer. Mid- April we had high temperatures in the 80’s and the end of the month provided us with a wonderful Spring Snow with plenty of well needed moisture that provided us .67/ inch. We are very thankful for that!

Irrigations have begun for 2025 season. The initial water deliveries came from the upper ditch as we were deemed out of priority and could not store water in Brush Hollow. April 16th Brush Hollow was opened to put water in the lower canal. Immediately following the water, shareholders began to receive water.  A reminder to shareholders that at this time, Fremont County is in a moderate to severe drought due to the lack of moisture over the past few months. The creek is running at a lower level as compared to last year. Unfortunately, there isn’t much in snow melt to count on and we will need to depend on rain to maintain our water availability.

This year the ditch riders are entering the delivery data for  each shareholder on a tablet that can be viewed by the Superintendent and the Office Administrator. As with all new processes, there is a learning curve. We are learning as we go and it is working well so far. Actual scheduling dates are determined by the ditch rider. It is very important to work with them as it pertains to those planting later in May. Please be mindful of your water, do not let it run down the road or fill the bar ditches as they were not designed to hold tail water and they are in the County’s easement. The County is monitoring their roads to make sure we are compliant. Water on the road is very destructive to the road causing a breakdown of the asphalt causing the County to repair or replace sections that cost them money that was not allocated on their budget. Not only is this a problem for the county it also is a problem for your fellow shareholders. If the water is being wasted, there is a chance that any water wasted may have watered another shareholder’s land. Please be a good steward and keep your water on your property. If you can’t contain the water the ditch rider may have no choice but to turn your water off. ONE more item to remember, ditch riders are not permitted to go out after dark, any anticipated issues need to be addressed during daylight hours. Actual emergencies you should contact the Superintendent.

Please pray for rain!
