February 2021 Update

February was a very interesting month as the weather provided snow several times, however unfortunately according to AG Met Sensor the precipitation only equated to .19 inch of moisture. Not only did we have snow to deal with we also had a wide range of daily temperatures from a daily high early in the month of 67.9 to a very cold -20.00 below. Valentine’s Day never reached 1 degree with a recorded .8 degree for the day.

Due to the extreme change in the weather, mowing and canal cleaning has been off and on but the staff is pushing through. Upper and Lower Ditch mowing is completed with all efforts focused on cleaning the canals.

Our Annual Shareholders Meeting took place on Saturday the 27th via Zoom. Our wonderful shareholders returned their voting proxies as requested and not only did we have a quorum of represented shares we had a total of 70% of shares represented. As the signed voting proxies accepted the budget and minutes they received in their packets; the meeting moved rather quickly. Connie, our Superintendent provided a power point presentation with photos and commentary of the improvements made to our system last year. This included the replacement of the gate at the diversion that had been leaking, replacement of upper canal lining in an area where the lining had deteriorated and sections were missing causing water loss and piping a section of the upper canal that was unlined, deep shale ridden area that suspected water loss had been for many years. These major improvements should provide a sound upper ditch canal with less water loss. There were two Board of Directors Board seats open, however voting will be done via mail/submit back to office. Those shareholders that choose to represent themselves were sent a voting document and results should be known by our next monthly Board Meeting on 3/9/21.  There were 5 candidates, Jack Tyler for re-election to the Board and Tom Linza, Charlie Newlon, Craig Weaver and Anne Rose Berendt. Results will be posted on this Blog Spot, Beaver Park Water’s Face Book page and notice will on the Board at the office.

There are Four delinquent shares for silent Auction. This process is bidding for all four shares together, with minimum bid starting at $1428.96 for the lot of four. Bids are to submitted to BPW office in a sealed envelope with BID ENCLOSED written on the outside. Inside the envelope place your name, contact number and your $Bid. Submit bids no later than 3/9/21. The most important thing that was discussed at the shareholders meeting was the fact that the Drought conditions continue, Brush Hollow Reservoir is 10 foot lower than it was last year at this time. Skaguay Reservoir is down a foot this year, whereas last year they were spilling into Beaver Creek. Please be prepared for a difficult irrigation season unless we are blessed with a moisture packed spring snowfall and rain between now and April. Pray for Moisture….
