Beaver Park Water’s staff completed the cleaning of
ditches and prepared to start water on Monday, April 16th.
Unfortunately the wind had other ideas, Tuesday April 17th the wind
began to blow and continued to blow dirt and debris of all kinds into the
screens, clogging up the entire system. The staff tried to keep up, but the
wind was relentless. After spending many hours of trying to keep up with cleaning
all the screens in the entire system repeatedly, it was determined that the
water would be shut off until the entire canal system could be cleaned of the
debris and tumble weeds. The staff began cleaning and hauling the debris, when
it finally looked promising to start the water again, the wind came back to
cause more problems. Cleaning and hauling debris continued for several days. Some
of the irrigations from the upper canal re-started on Monday the 23rd.
Some lines on the lower ditch were
restarted as well with more lines to start up Tuesday the 24th. Finally
by Wednesday the 25th, water was able to be delivered throughout the
system.
We finally received some moisture from rain and snow that
our soil in Penrose desperately needed. As our Penrose AG Met sensor has not
been working for some time, the moisture received can’t be reported, however
whatever amount it was; it made mud and visually greened up the fields. We had an additional day of rain we can be
very thankful for as the forecast towards the end of the month looks dry.
A reminder to all shareholders, those who have yet to make
assessment payments that were due April 1st, will NOT be contacted by the ditch
riders to schedule water. Should you have any questions or concerns about your
assessments, please contact the office at 372-3664. Additionally, we can’t
contact you if your phone numbers have changed. Please make sure these are up
to date with the office and your profile has been updated.
