February updates

The month of February was warm, dry and windy. Very hard to tell that it is winter. The staff worked on cleaning the ditches to ready for irrigation season. The new flume for Brush Hollow is installed and the telemetry is being installed shortly. This will give us an accurate measurement of water actually going into Brush Hollow after it flows through the upper ditch.

We had a very successful Annual shareholders meeting with 65% of the shares represented either in person or via proxy. 2016 minutes were approved as presented and 2017 budget was approved. Gary Ratkovich and Sonny Daniels were re-elected to the Board of Directors.

Gary Ratkovich led a discussion that addressed the fact that several of the Board members have been on the Board for many years and it would be beneficial if there were shareholders to learn the business of Beaver Park Water should our current board members decide to no longer seek re-election. After speaking with Justin Jenkins, the newest Board member, it was realized that it takes a year or two to become familiar with all of responsibilities of the Board. This prompted a solicitation of a list of shareholders to be compiled who are interested in what the board does , they must commit to attending monthly Board of Director meetings for informational purposes only. This will provide them a good overview of federal/state regulations, contracts and BPWI background should they choose to seek  a position on the Board in the future.

We are hoping that March and April provides with snow or rain to make up for the dry winter we have experienced. Snow pack totals throughout the State are favorable; however this does not include the south side of Pikes Peak where we get our water. Currently there is not a measuring device to tell us what the snow pack will provide us.

As a reminder, we need current contact numbers for shareholders primary information. The ditch riders cannot call you if your phone numbers have changed.  Additionally, if your mailing address has changed, we need that information also.

Please remember that assessments must be paid by April 1st (or half) to be eligible to receive irrigation water. The ditch riders WILL NOT call any shareholder that is not in good standing with assessments. This is your responsibility. If you do not receive your statement by March 15th please contact the office at 372-3664. Since the statements are on postcards, they do tend to get lost in the mail. Assessments are the same as last year, $78/share.
