The month of January has brought us little in precipitation
and the average temperature has been in the low 50’s. However the wind has been
consistently blowing causing problems with the tumbleweeds clogging up the
water delivery to Penrose Water District. The staff has spent many hours
cleaning out the water system due to this problem. Brush Hollow Reservoir is
currently at 92.10 ft. (which is just under spilling). A plan to relieve the
reservoir of some of the water will be used to flush out the lines. Maintaining
the reservoir’s level and not spill may be a challenge. The Superintendent and
the Board of Directors may be faced with a decision of utilizing the water
without sending water down the creek. For those of you, who have noticed water
running in Beaver Creek on Hwy 50 towards Pueblo, be assured that this water is
NOT our water we receive from the Diversion, it comes from another creek
source. We are capturing and using the water we are receiving.
