October 2013
October has seen many changes, temperatures ranging from
82 for a high of the day to as low as 43 for a high. The fall season is
definitely here. Very little moisture this month compared to the previous
months, the Colorado AG Met sensor only recorded a total of .20 inches of
moisture for October.
We did have one major repair which caused delays. A large
tree and its roots caused damage to the line and broke the casing around the valve.
Due to this repair, L Street line was down for almost two weeks. The repair was
completed which included the removal of the tree to eliminate any future
issues.
The ditch rider staff is finishing up irrigations with
shareholders receiving two irrigations during the 2013 irrigation season
(Shareholders that have outstanding balances, did not receive two irrigations).
Larry Degenhart and Tommy Lilze have completed their irrigation rotations for
the year and have been working with Tom Sanders with repair projects. Don
Hampton is still actively irrigating Line 8, Apple Valley and the East side
Lower Ditch shareholders.
We have been fortunate that Beaver Creek’s volume has
supplied us enough water to fill Brush Hollow currently at 86 ft. This is
considered a good level to go into winter storage which begins November 15th.
The 1st of November past due statements will
be sent out. We encourage those shareholders to make arrangements to pay off
the balances. Interest has been accruing monthly and this increases the pay off
balance. If you are unable to pay your balance in full, please consider making
smaller payments each month to lessen the interest amount and pay down what is
owed. It is very important that your account be paid in full or risk the chance
of defaulting and lose your shares through the auction process next February.
Accounts that are behind two years are subject to this process. If you have any
questions or concerns, please contact the office at 719-372-3664.
