February update-
Many days this month brought us the most sought after white
snow, however we were provided with very little measurable precipitation. A
total of .22 of an inch was recorded by the (coagmet) sensor on the 13th
and L Street field.
The month of February
went by quick as many projects were to be completed prior to the Annual
Shareholders Meeting. I was extremely thankful that Larry Degenhart, Tommy
Lilze and Ginny Lilze shared their knowledge of all the processes needed to
provide the correct documents for checking shareholders in and distribution of
voting ballots. I am forever grateful. Also I would like to thank all of the
volunteers that helped check in the shareholders: John Daniels, Tommy and Ginny
Lilze, Dixie Wasson, Virgil Hampton, Jessie Daniels and Larry Degenhart who
kept an accurate count of shareholders represented to establish a quorum needed
to proceed with the meeting. And a special thank you to Wendy Renfrow for her
talents in taking the minutes of the meeting. We had a total of 61.79%
shareholders represented either in person or by proxy.
There were two openings on the Board of Directors this year.
Butch Miller was the only candidate for one of the positions/running unopposed.
During the nomination process only one person was nominated for the second
position. Motion was made, seconded and passed that we operate under the “white
ballot” procedure that since only one person per position was nominated or an
unopposed candidate (i.e. uncontested election) they are considered elected.
Those elected to the Board of Directors for a three year term are Wendy Renfrow
and Butch Miller. As we all will miss Dick Shea as the out- going Board Member,
we welcome Wendy Renfrow to the Board of Directors.
2013 assessments have been mailed. Assessments are due by
April 1st 2013, or ½ of the assessments paid by April 1st
2013 and the balance due by 8/1/13. An additional $10 fee will be charged if
payments are split. Only those shareholders that are in good standing (no past
due balances and at least ½ of 2013 assessments paid) will be considered to
receive irrigation water. At this time, it does not look promising for irrigation;
however spring snow and rain could change this. We currently are able to supply
Penrose Water District with domestic water as contracted and that is a positive
thing.
For those of you who attended the annual meeting, Tom
Sanders offered tours of our water system to any and all shareholders. We have
already had three shareholders make appointments with Tom for this tour. If you
are interested, please call the office at 372-3664 to make an appointment.
Please join us in praying for those heavy wet spring snow
falls that Colorado is so famous for. That is what it will take to make
irrigation possible.
