August has been a very busy month for all the staff. They were able to finish second irrigations
and start into third irrigation rotations. Many shareholders have had the good
fortune to experience a good crop of hay this year with the assistance of Mother
Nature’s help in providing rain. Penrose only received one inch of rain during
the month according to the AG Met sensor. Temperatures have maintained high
eighty’s or high 90’s all month long. At this time, we do not know just how
many shareholders will be receiving a third irrigation as the creek has
steadily come down. Should we not be able to complete third irrigations to all
shareholders, we will begin irrigations next year where we stopped. Those who
have been without water the longest will be the first to receive water next
year.
Currently all the lines that were being worked on are
repaired and working as expected. This
year we have experienced more than our share of repairs that have affected
irrigation deliveries. All the repairs have been completed in a timely manner
allowing irrigations to continue. We are thankful for Connie and her staff for
all their efforts in keeping the water moving.
Many shareholders still have outstanding assessment balances
that are past due. Please keep in mind that if you are not in good standing,
you will not be eligible to receive irrigation water. The ditch riders will not
put you on the schedule nor will they contact you. Additionally, there are
several shareholders that are currently in a critical delinquent status and are
in danger of receiving a letter requiring payment in full or shares may be
auctioned at the next annual shareholders meeting for exceeding two years
delinquency. Please don’t let this happen, it is important for you to retain
your water shares to serve your needs on your property. Options are available
to retain your water shares. If you have any questions, please contact the
office at 372-3664.
Autumn begins on the 23rd of September and the
new Farmer’s Almanac for 2019-2020 is predicting a cold and snowy winter. Be
prepared! And pray for snow fall on the south side of Pike’s Peak!
