Fall is upon us with temperatures dropping into normal fall
ranges with an average temp. of 60, however we did experience a few days in the
mid-eighties. We were blessed with both snow and rain for a total of almost an
inch of moisture for the month (AG Met sensor in Penrose recorded .84).
Forecasts for the last days of the month do call for more moisture in our area,
which could provide that one inch easily. Due to the snow and cold we did have
one night fall to 10 degrees.
Unfortunately the severe drop in the temperatures froze many
of the apples on the trees and shortened the Penrose Orchards picking season. This
along with the drought we endured all summer was very discouraging to the apple
growers. Hopefully we can overcome the limitations that the weather has
burdened us with and start fresh next year.
The staff has worked very steady on the delivery line on
West side line LD3rd and completed the replacement of 280 feet of pipe. They
are anxious to move on to other projects scheduled this winter.
We finally are receiving water down the creek and are not
only able to provide water to Penrose Water District; we actually are able to
put water into Brush Hollow Reservoir. We will enter into winter storage phase
in November. Creek water significantly is reduced during the winter months and
we also will be shutting off the upper ditch when lining repair begins in
November. Any water we can store now will benefit us in the spring.
As a reminder to all Shareholders with outstanding
assessment balances, you will continue to be charged interest each month with a
balance owing. A monthly invoice is mailed showing you the balance owed.
Depending on the balance, the interest can be a significant amount. If you are
unable to pay the entire amount owed, consider making monthly payments on your
account.
November is right around the corner and that leads up to the big day of Thanksgiving… we are looking forward
to enjoying time with family and friends while overindulging in a turkey dinner,
skiing, watching football, shopping on black Friday or any other tradition you
may have…..
Don’t
forget to Give Thanks for what you have….
