Unfortunately the drought has found us. We are experiencing
and struggling with the same issues as we did in 2012. The mild winter produced
no snow melt run off and with no rain; the creek is running very little at this
time. The Only saving grace for irrigations this year is the fact that Brush
Hollow was full. This provided 1st irrigations to most of the Shareholders
and we are finalizing those who are waiting for their first irrigations. However,
we are coming to an end; when the Lake reaches 70 feet we must stop where we
are at. The upper ditch Shareholders are the most difficult to irrigate as we
are only receiving 3-4 cfs in our system. Working with so little water, it has
drug the process out beyond our usual 45 days. We have asked Penrose water
district to pump directly from Brush Hollow allowing us to use what water is in
the upper canal for irrigations only. At this time, we are hopeful that we able
to receive some rain.
Hot and dry weather is in the forecast for the balance of
June. Fremont County has issued a Stage 2 fire restriction for all of the
unincorporated areas which does include Penrose. Please be diligent with all
the restrictions that include; no outdoor smoking, no campfires, no burning
refuse or other debris, no fireworks of any kind, no outdoor welding, grinding
or torches, no off road use of motorized vehicles that could potentially spark
or cause exhaust heat. Grilling is limited to propane grills only provided that
they are free of vegetation and you have an adequate water source or fire
extinguisher on site.
For those shareholders who are unaware of what your annual
assessments pay for, the following is an example of the expenses. Repayment of
CWCB Loans, Liability Insurance, Payroll expenses, Maintenance and Repairs on
the System, Maintenance of equipment, office and shop supplies. All of the
assessments are used for the operational costs of the system. You as a
shareholder and 530 other shareholders are owners of Beaver Park Water, Inc.
You have a non-paid elected Board of Directors that manage all business matters
of Beaver Park Water, Inc. Not only are you a partial owner, when and if water
is available and you have paid your assessments; you are entitled to receive
irrigation water as a benefit of being a shareholder. You DO NOT pay for water, Beaver Park Water, Inc. IS NOT a utility.
It has come to our attention that many shareholders have not
updated their contact numbers. Regardless of whether or not you may have been
contacted last year by a ditch rider, the office was not provided with that
change. When new ditch rider sheets were developed and dispersed, your profile
in the office system is the information that was used. If you have changed your
number within the past few years and especially if you have not been contacted,
it may be due to the lack of updated information in our data base. Please
contact the office at 372-3664 to inquire about this or make the appropriate
changes. This will eliminate any problems in the future. Additionally, if you
have changed who is actually responsible for your irrigation, we need that
information also.
Pray for Rain!
