April started out dry warm and windy, however we received
some welcomed relief from the drought with RAIN!!! AG Met sensor reporting over
1.25 inches of well needed liquid.
Irrigations from the Upper Canal began on the 12th
of April delivering 5 heads of water with the Lower canal beginning on the 18th
with an additional 9 heads of water to be delivered. As shareholders, it is
your responsibility to make sure you are ready to receive water when the ditch
rider calls to schedule your delivery. Please make sure we have your current
contact number(s) in the office. Call 719-372-3664 for updates to your
information. When the ditch rider is unable to contact you, they will go to the
next shareholder in line.
Those shareholders planting crops that can’t be planted
until May, please contact your ditch rider and let them know so they can
schedule your irrigation after your field has been planted. Keeping in contact
with the ditch rider will benefit your needs.
REMINDERS! Please also keep in mind that when irrigation
water is running the ditch riders will continue to schedule water regardless of
what the weather is. Water must continue on, there is not a place for it to be
held. In addition, DO NOT call the ditch rider after dark and tell them you can
no longer keep the water, someone else needs to be ready to take it and it is
not feasible to find someone at 8pm or 9pm to make a change. Not only that but
Beaver Park Water does not permit the ditch riders to be out after dark for
safety reasons. Should you feel your field is saturated and no longer can take
water, please let the ditch rider know prior to 4:00pm or sooner. The office
staff does NOT know when you are scheduled to receive water, the ditch riders
are responsible for scheduling water. Please call your ditch rider for this
information.
Kudos to whomever has been doing the rain dances…continue
please!
