October 2026

October was very interesting with temperatures in the 80’s and dropping down to the 60’s for day time temperatures. We did experience a freeze warning with temperatures in the 20’s. AND it rained and rained several days that according to the AG met sensor provided us with .52 inches of rain. After all the dryness we endured throughout the summer the rain greened up all the fields. Nice to see after a summer of dry heat.

The ditch riders have been working hard to provide 3rd irrigations. Most of the water is transferring down from the upper canal to prevent the water from going into the reservoir as we have not been in priority to store water most of the summer. The reservoir gate was opened enough to assist in providing the water to the lower canal. However, the gate was closed on Sunday October 25th as we need to keep water in the lake for Penrose Water District and enough water to sustain the fish pool.

Along with providing irrigation water, they are making a list of repairs that need completed prior to next years irrigation season. As a shareholder if you are aware of a repair or replacement in the system, please either contact your ditch rider or contact the superintendent at 719-371-4312.

Connie has received all the necessary documents after her wedding to Chris Brochu and is now changing her name to: Connie Brochu. At this time her email address has not changed but should change soon.

Please note that Thanksgiving Day and the day after the office will be closed for the holiday. We will not be irrigating at that time as irrigation will end November 15th.

We are expecting a snowy winter season so make sure your vehicles are stocked with a coat, gloves, snow boots, water and a blanket.
