August 2026 update

August has proven to be hectic for ditch riders. We went from only sharing one head of water amongst the four of them to everyone scrambling to schedule water as Skaguay Reservoir over stored water and released a significant amount of water into Beaver Creek. The goal was to complete second irrigations through out the system. And then it rained up North creating more water and muddy water came down from the tributaries.

We are not in priority to store water therefore it has been a scheduling nightmare for our Superintendent to constantly watch the water in Beaver Creek, the diversion and all of scheduling of irrigation water to make sure we have no water reaching Brush Hollow.

Sadly, we are not sure just how long this water will last. If you are called for scheduling of water it is recommended to take it while it’s available.

Penrose only received .72 inches of moisture from all the storms that came through the area according to the AG Met sensor.

Please remember that 9/7/26 is Labor Day and the office will be closed. All scheduled irrigations will continue as normal.

Pray for rain! Make sure to have access to an umbrella just in case.
