March 2023 update

March did not provide the snow or rain we could use on our fields. AG Met sensor only reported .24 in of moisture for the month. Hopefully “ April showers” will assist with the much needed moisture.

Great News! Beaver Park Water was approved for a Grant to provide money for a remote gate on the diversion. This will eliminate the need to drive up to the diversion to make the needed adjustments when the creek water either increases or decreases significantly. This also will be a safety measure as the road when wet or snow packed can be treacherous. We can thank our Water Engineer, Steve Kastner for writing the grant proposal and presenting our request on our behalf.

It's that time of year to prepare your fields for irrigation. Make sure you have made all the preparations for receiving water. The ditch riders will begin irrigations where they left off last year. The start date has not been determined yet; However it should be around the middle of April. A notification will be posted on our Blogspot as well as our face book page when a date has been selected.

Please make sure that you have your contact numbers updated in the office as these are the numbers the ditch riders use to schedule your water. Also, if someone else is actually going to irrigate for you, please provide us their name and number.

It is very important that you keep in touch with your ditch rider if you are planting a new field or planting a crop that must be planted in May (when the soil is warmer and no chance of frost). This will allow them to arrange the schedule around your situation.

Please remember, there are 540 shareholders with 3529 shares to be distributed. This takes time and a significant amount of coordination of scheduling to make it all work. It becomes more difficult when the creek is low and distribution of water is slower and suddenly the creek increases and re-scheduling occurs. Please plan to be patient.

Pray for rain or late spring time snow!
