February 2023 Update

February provided the Penrose area with some cold temperatures, some snow and lots of wind. The high for the month was 65 degrees and the low was -9.50. Unfortunately the snow did not provide us with the moisture needed. Ag Met sensor only recorded .15 in. of moisture for the month.

The staff has kept busy mowing and replacing or repairing gates. March we will begin to clean the canals of the debris that has collected over the winter months. We also have lines that need repaired prior to irrigation season starting.

February 25th our annual shareholders meeting was held at the Penrose Elementary Gymnasium. We were successful in reaching a quorum with 70% of shares represented either by proxy or in person. Thank you to all the shareholders that made this happen.

Speakers included; Charlotte Norman, Penrose Water District’s Board President, Greg Langer, NRCS District Conservationist, Bob Krassa, Beaver Park Water’s Water Right Attorney, Steve Kastner, Beaver Park Water’s Water Engineer, and John Daniels, Fremont County’s Dept. of Transportation, Roads and Bridges Supervisor.

Connie Johnson, Superintendent presented the Superintendents report, Jack Tyler, Beaver Park Water’s Board of Directors Vice President provided the Directors Report and Bart Adams, Beaver Park Water’s Secretary/Treasurer delivered the Financial Report.

Two Board of Director positions were on the ballot, each a three-year term. Running for re-election were Sonny Daniels and Bart Adams. There were no nominations from the floor, therefore a white-ballot motion was made retaining Sonny Daniels and Bart Adams on the Board of Directors.

Irrigation season is right around the corner, prepare your fields and put out your pipe, April will be here soon.

Pray for moisture, rain or snow….
