September 2022 Update

The month of September provided us with summer temperatures in the 90’s most of the month with very little moisture provided in the form of rain. Ag Met sensor only recorded less than a quarter of an inch of moisture.

Second irrigations are coming to an end with third irrigations in process. The creek has benefited from Skaguay’s continued inflow with a full reservoir causing spilling plus scheduled releases. Beaver Park Water requested a release of 172 AF that we are entitled to, spread out throughout a ten-day period. Release began on Sept. 19th.  With this additional increase, we have increased our deliveries to shareholders to make sure we are using all the water coming into the system.

Daily reports are coming into the office regarding tail water on the roadways. Please be considerate and don’t waste the water. Regardless of what you might have heard or understand, Beaver Park Water’s rules and regulations on water delivery are still in effect and reflect the following: #3. No Waste Water shall be allowed at any time to run in the road. #5. Landowners and parties in charge of tracts must provide waste ditches adjoining property to keep water off the roads. No waste water shall be turned upon the land of another without giving the owner notice, except in cases of natural drainage into a regular gulch or stream. #8. If water is found running to waste on a tract, it will be cut down to what is considered the correct amount and if it is found wasting and no one to look after it, water will be cut off. Beaver Park Water established these rules to protect our water resource from wasting. We have an obligation to be good stewards of the resource as well as protect property from damage due to tail water. Fremont County Roads and Bridges have rules and regulations regarding waste water and the State of Colorado has established laws regarding waste water.

One more item that needs to addressed: regarding canals and open ditches, those who mow along side canals, please make every effort to keep the grass clippings out of the canal. Pipes and screens are plugging up the system that causes problems for ditch riders and shareholders. Your assistance in keeping any debris from the canals would be appreciated.

We are now into the official fall season as of the 23rd with Penrose celebrating Apple Day on Saturday October 1st.  The holiday season is around the corner, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas… where has the year gone?

As Always…pray for rain or snow; carry an umbrella and put a pair of snow boots in your vehicle.
