January has
been a busy month for the staff with completing the upper ditch mowing and
moving down to the lower ditch. The lower ditch proves to be a bit more
challenging as many fences throughout the water system are actually along the canals.
As many of you are aware Beaver Park Water does have an easement along the
canals and unfortunately, we have limited access and must work around many
areas that make it almost impossible to maintain. Property owners are
encouraged to assist in the maintenance of the canals by not building fences in
the easement area, providing access to locked gates and providing access to our
easement of 15 ft on each side along the canal.
The primary purpose is to eliminate any tree growth along the cement
canals as the roots break the cement and repair or section replacement of the
canal is costly. Preventative maintenance is the best solution and our goal to
achieve. Any assistance in removing new growth of trees along the canals will
be greatly beneficial.
The Annual
Shareholder Meeting notices were mailed out January, 27th to all
shareholders. The meeting is scheduled for February 29th, 2020 at 1
pm at the Penrose Elementary School Gymnasium. All Shareholders are required to
either represent their shares at the meeting in person or sign a proxy to
either the proxy committee or another shareholder that will attend the meeting
and represent your voting shares for you. A change has occurred since printing
was completed, one of the seats for a Board member position is now an open
position as Gary Ratkovich has announced his retirement after 30 years of
service to Beaver Park Water, Inc. Any Shareholder is eligible to run for the
open Board member seat. Voting will take place at the shareholders meeting on
2/29/2020. Should you be interested and have any questions, please contact the
office at 372-3664 for further information.
Work on the
upper canal replacing the canal lining has resumed this month. The work done is
finishing out the Phase II Grant money that was awarded to us. We are
anticipating starting the Phase III Grant later this fall. Our goal is to fill
Brush Hollow with as much water as possible prior to April 15th. Currently
the lake is only at 73ft. Which is 6.5 feet lower than last year at this time
and 16.40 ft lower than January of 2018.
We are hopeful for the upcoming months to provide significant snow and
or rain to turn this around.
