The month of August has been a mix of crazy weather with
plenty of moisture. The Ag Met sensor in Penrose recorded a day time high of 93
degrees and a night time low at 46.7 degrees with .62 inches of measurable
moisture for the month. The weather made it very challenging for those
shareholders whose fields were overripe. Most of the hay cut in Penrose during
August did get some rain as the afternoon showers were a normal occurrence.
This brought delays as Shareholders were in the process of either cutting or
baling at the time the ditch riders were delivering third irrigations. We are
excited that Brush Hollow’s level of 82ft and the creek flow at 32c.f.s. is
allowing for the delivery of three irrigations this year. Some forecasters are
predicting an early Fall with winter like conditions as early as the middle of
September.
Tom Lilze, Beaver Park Water’s newly appointed
superintendent is settling into his new position. Beaver Park Water, Inc. Tom’s
first order of business was to secure a new ditch rider to replace his
designated lines. Shareholders are encouraged to stop by the office or contact
Tom at 371-4311 to discuss any issues or concerns they may have regarding the
irrigation system or process. Or, make plans to attend a monthly Board of
Directors meeting. Meetings are scheduled every second Tuesday of the month
beginning at 7:30pm at 209 Broadway in Penrose.
After completing the process of interviewing candidates for
the position of ditch rider; the position was offered and accepted by Ronny
Beldin. Ronny is scheduled to begin work effective 9/2/14. Ronny will carry the
cell phone 719-371-4313 and will be responsible for the irrigation water
deliveries on the middle lines.
After a review of unpaid assessments, a total of 47
shares are two years in arrears and are in jeopardy of being auctioned at the
annual shareholders meeting in February. Delinquent shareholders will have the
opportunity to bring accounts current either paying the balances due in full or
making arrangements to make monthly payments. Beaver Park Water, Inc.’s goal is
assist those shareholders whose accounts are over two years delinquent to avoid
the auction process. Should you be one of these shareholders, please contact
the office and make arrangements for payment.
Those shareholders who opted to pay assessments in
payments of half in April and half in August with a $10 added surcharge,
payments are now past due. Not only will your balance be assessed 18% interest
monthly, you will not be scheduled for irrigation water. As a reminder, the
office hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. A mail slot in the door
provides a method of delivering payments when the office is closed. Statements
will be sent out in early September to those with outstanding balances.
