March 2014 updates
The month of March has been a roller coaster of weather. Temperatures
ranged from a high of 74 degrees to a low of 5.6 degrees. Snow and Rain
provided a total of ½ inch of measurable moisture according to the CoAgMet
weather sensor located in Penrose. The wind also played a significant part in
providing flight to the tumble weeds, keeping Beaver Park water staff very busy
removing them from the ditches and canals.
Early irrigation water began March 17th to those shareholders
that signed up to receive it. Early irrigation was established to prevent Brush
Hollow Reservoir from spilling; currently the reservoir gage is at 93 ft.
Assessments are due and payable by April 1st.
Shareholders can pay ½ of their assessments by April 1st with an
additional $10 surcharge fee. The balance will be due and payable by August 1st.
Accounts must be in good standing prior to receiving irrigation water. Accounts
that are not paid will be skipped in the rotations until payments are received.
If payment is made after a skip in the rotation, you will be placed at the end
of the schedule. It is very important to work with your designated ditch rider
for scheduling purposes. Week end water can‘t
be scheduled for everyone, there are other options if should you be unable to
accept water Monday-Friday. If you arrange for someone else to irrigate, please
provide that contact name and number to your ditch rider. A notice will be
placed on the board at the office providing names and contact numbers of
individuals that are available.
2014 irrigation season is scheduled to begin April 15th. As we did last
year, a map of the Beaver Park Water irrigation system will be posted on the
outside Board at the Office flagging where water is currently being
distributed. This is intended to assist those who want to follow the irrigation
process. Actual scheduling is determined by the ditch rider.
This is the first time in many years that water availability
looks promising. Snow pack in the mountains is up, the reservoir is full and
our area actually experienced snowfall over the winter allowing the moisture to
absorb into the ground. With that being said, we are not certain of what the
spring and summer weather patterns will bring us or if we will be impacted by
drought this year. We will continue to Pray for rain!
